Golf Courses on the Garden Route of South Africa
Mossel Bay Golf Club - Golfing in Mossel Bay
The course is an easy walk and very playable from tee to green for all golfers, even if you have just taken up the game.
The beautiful views of the Indian Ocean or the Springbuck roaming on the course might distract you, but they will most definitely leave you with lasting memories.
The Mossel Bay golf course signature hole is the 3d hole, which is a par 4. At almost 400m, and a stroke three, this can be challenging especially when playing into the sea breeze.
he tee is situated high above the fairway with magnificent visews over the estate, and the hole runs downhill towards the green with the Indian Ocean as your backdrop.
Well-placed bunkers on either side of the fairway will catch any errand tee shots.
The green is a large two level undulating green, which makes a guaranteed par 4 on the hole uncertain.

Bramble Hill Golf Course - Golfing on the only open to public Fancourt Golf Course
As Fancourt's only public offering, Bramble Hill is often considered a lesser test of golf than the estate's marquee courses.
Brendan Barratt discovered that while it may lack their glamour, it is still a fine golfing experience.
Like the other three courses at Fancourt, Bramble Hill carries the signature of Gary Player and this common thread has resulted in the course sharing numerous characteristics with its more illustrious counterparts.
Bramble Hill's fairways offer many prized views of The Links course and the similarity between the two courses extends to a couple of very links-like holes on the front nine.
This would appear to be the objective of the course, as it offers a taste of The Links and Montagu or Outeniqua without giving away too many of their playing secrets.

Knysna Golf Club - Golfing in the Heart of the Garden Route
Knysna Golf Club was founded in 1909 and only moved to its present location in 1953.
It started as a 9-hole course and was made an 18-hole course in 1960.
The course originally had bayview greens and very few bunkers until, in 1994,
an extensive upgrade program was launched and 19 new Crenshaw bent grass greens were built.
Over the years, new tidal pools and channels have been introduced and real attention paid to the bunkering throughout the layout.
That this has been successfully implemented can be seen from the clubhouse, for the eighteenth hole now has a superb bent grass surface covering a large undulating area.
Together with an attractive and potentially hazardous water feature as a backdrop, shapely and well manicured bunkers protecting the green add to what is now a substantial finishing challenge.

Simola Golf Club - Golfing on the most extraordinary Golf Course of South Africa
Keeping your head down at Simola can be a challenge; simply because the views around the course are awe-inspiring, and with this,
it is clear to see why Simola takes its place as one of South Africa's premier golfing destinations.
It's also the first Jack Nicklaus Signature course on the Garden Route,
reflecting the maestro's philosophy of attuning the layout and design to the natural lie of the land.
Set below the high ridges, it's free from the wind that so often plagues coastal courses.
Fairways flow with the natural undulating contours of the terrain and the unusual configuration of five par 5's and five par 3's adds a new dimension to the game.
It's typical for the course that every hole boasts exceptional views; either out across the Knysna Lagoon to the Heads or over the Knysna River as it twists and turns through the valley below.
